Yet Another Flavour of Blog: I Accidentally Wrote A Song Today

21 01 2010

I accidentally wrote a song today.

I’ve had a hard time writing songs recently. There is a long answer and a short answer.

The short answer is that I’ve been thinking about it too much and not forcing myself to finish songs.

I also had the thought that I should stop fiddling with (virtual) knobs and get back to what I know and enjoy. Pounding out simple songs on guitar.

Here is a simple song pounded out on guitar.

I will make a habit of writing, recording, and posting songs as they come — warts and all. If people like one song more than another than I will refine it. I will also likely do You Tube versions of the other songs I have in that box widget up to the right.

So, let me know what you like or what you want to hear more of!

awwwwwwwwwwwww…you’re such a closet softie.

On a more ‘feedback’y’ note, I’m not great on music feedback because I’m not audiophile. It felt a bit repetitive towards the end maybe? I wanted you to break out into something different in the middle to keep my auditory interest piqued.

I definitely like it more than your more techno stuff though.

Thanks for listening. I’m glad you like it. Maybe I will try throwing a little shimmy-shimmy into the middle in a later iteration.

Excuse me? There’s TECHNO STUFF? We need to talk….

Just check that box up there to the right. I have a few unfinished straight ahead techno tracks on my computer here somewhere. P.s. your question made the interview. :)

Congrats on your latest song! I find it mellow and kind of tranc-fying in a pleasant way. I’m still freaking over the techno and ‘Crawl Across My Windshield’ reminds me of America, specifically ‘Horse With No Name’.

Thanks for listening and I’m glad you liked it. Hopefully, I’ve popped the cork and more will come. I’m going to try and take a blog post attitude to the process. Bang it out get it done. Not all will be gold but they will get better and a few will be pretty decent.

Ya Sterling. Awesome.

Okay, we’ve got to work on a song together. No doubt.

And now I’m going to post a tune. Thanks for the kick in the butt. =)

Thanks! For the record, it was your recorded extended set that helped light the fire under my butt. Let’s keep this virtuous (butt kicking) cycle going :)

You’re it. You’re it. Grr, spelling.

One could argue, I think, that when one is “it” one also possesses the the “it” as state of being.

Ah, eleven years of philosophical training was not for naught! :)

Sweet tune! Hopefully, our game of tag spreads to other songwriters out there…. :)

We should do a duet sometime or maybe revive an ancient collaborative classic. “Old dog” perhaps? or are the wounds still too fresh? :)

If you are prepared to play the proper version… :)
